Three Threes

December 30th, 2008

So I figured I would give Rachel’s meme a try out. See her original post here.

The Three Threes
First, write down:
1) Three things that have changed since the beginning of the year
2) Three things that didn’t change
3) Three things you want to change next year
————————————————————

Three things that have changed since the beginning of the year:
1) Took up Surfing in a big way in July, its now my passion.
2) 35lbs less of me! See surfing above, I am in better shape that I was in high school.
3) New Trailer, Beth and I moved into a 27ft Sunset Creek and moved to Half Moon Bay, CA

Three things that didn’t change:
1) Still living and loving it in California.
2) Visited State number didn’t go up, still stuck at 30, I want to see 50 before I am 30.
3) Still trying to convince more of my family to come visit me in CA.

Three things you want to change next year:
1) Still need to see 20 more lbs of me go away.
2) Would like to be able to do nice bottom turns, top turns and cut backs on my short board.
3) Would like to land a really great job at a really great company that doesn’t give layoffs as a Christmas bonus.

So there is my 3 who is next?

Update:
This is the now infamous post that was detailed in the WSJ. I wrote it in response to a meme a friend of mine started. It was not directed at my former employer specifically, it was in more of a general comment on the economy of the Bay Area at large. In the 2 weeks before my layoff, many companies had laid off large number of people I knew right before the Christmas holidays. This can be the worst time of year to job search as everyone that would need to interview you is gone and many companies are shut down. Still I can see how it can be interpreted by someone looking for offense and the resulting action taken. After speaking with one of my wiser former co-workers I re-worded the last item to read “Would like to land a really great job at a really great company.” but I have restored it to its original wording because if it was interesting enough for the WSJ to print it, I should restore it to my blog. I was very fortunate to land a great position at Lyris right after new years so my layoff was nowhere near as destructive as some of the others mentioned in the WSJ. To learn more about how I used the internet in my search please check out my “Adventures in Social Media” Post. Now you have the rest of the story.
